My name is Devon Henry, a broadcast, multimedia journalist. I was born and raised in the Phoenix, Arizona area and have been a long time lover of sports. I developed and interest in multimedia as a 7th grader, and followed that throughout high school and into college. I never imagined that at just 25 years old, I would be awarded an Emmy for my storytelling in the Rocky Mountain Region.
I've announced hundreds of play-by-play events in my short career from the 2022 AIA Open Division Football Championship, NCAA DI basketball for Arizona State University, Arizona high school football, MCLA Lacrosse, and NAIA basketball. I have announced a dozen different sports including football, volleyball, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, wrestling, and baseball while also being the voice of Arizona Christian University Women's Basketball. Podium eSports and GSRC have allowed me to jump into the esports world and announce some of the most competitive iRacing series in all of esports. I have also done PA announcing for ACU football and basketball, AIA Softball State Tournament games, Peoria Sports Complex for AZ Classic Baseball and San Diego Padres Prospect games, and ACU men's and women's basketball. In 2016, I was inducted in the first Hall of Fame Class of the Peoria Student Broadcasting Network (PSBN).
While my favorite thing in the world is play-by-play announcing, I also love more journalistic endeavors. At Sports360AZ, I have hosted radio shows and podcasts, co-host round tables, conduct athlete interviews, and direct TV shows and create graphics. Likewise, I am an Arizona certified CTE teacher and work as a media and broadcast teacher at Liberty High School. That growth led me to returning to my alma mater of Arizona State University to become an adjunct faculty member, teaching the JMC 306 Multimedia Journalism class at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
I have also been on a variety of tech teams including with Arizona Cardinals media department live streaming shows and press conferences while creating graphics and highlight reels while producing and directing "Cardinals Cover 2." In terms of live broadcasts, I worked with Cronkite News on Arizona PBS working, audio, cameras, directing, and technical directing. Likewise, I've produced and directed Pac-12 Plus live sports broadcasts for hockey, basketball, baseball and softball. I also produced my own 50's and 60's Rock n Roll show, sports show, and motorsports podcast on Blaze Radio. I also teach, co-produce, co-direct, and do a variety of jobs for PSBN in the Peoria Unified School District. With that, I also mentor and teach high school kids how to perform live sports broadcasting.
I graduated in the top 10% of my class at Cactus High School with honors and in National Honors Society. At Cactus, I was President of our Choir club, a founding member of Cactus PSBN, a member of the 2014 CHS Principal Selection Committee, and attended the 2013 Arizona Boy's State selected by the Arizona American Legion. I also won "Best in Category" for my PSA in the 2014 Peoria Film Festival. I graduated with a 3.88 GPA.
I then attended Glendale Community College for 2 year under the President's Scholarship. I was accepted to the Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society and graduated from the GCC Honors Program. I graduated with an Associate in Arts with a 3.85 GPA.
I have a love for all sports and racing. I was a Race Marshal and PA Announcer at Warehouse 3 R/C Car Racetrack. I have also been a dirt and asphalt race fan my whole life.
Also, I am an amateur sports and environmental photographer and do other multimedia videos as well, such as picture slide show videos. I also have experience working a Tri-Caster, directing, producing, working audio, and doing camera work for live and recorded events.
